George Reedy appointed Interim Chief Executive of Health Hawke’s Bay
Health Hawke’s Bay PHO has appointed George Reedy as its Interim Chief Executive, Board Chair Dr Kevin Snee said today.
Dr Snee said Mr Reedy brings extensive leadership experience to the role. He was Chief Executive of Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou & Ngāti Porou Oranga from 2021 to 2025 and previously led Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga for seven years.
Mr Reedy also holds directorships, including Eastland Group, Tu Atea and Te Huarahi Tika Trust.
Mr Reedy will step into the interim role in June. His immediate focus will be on supporting general practice in Hawke’s Bay and strengthening community health care as the new ownership structure of Health Hawke’s Bay is developed in partnership with general practice.
The recruitment process for a permanent Chief Executive will begin around mid-year, with the aim to have a new Chief Executive in place by the end of 2026, Dr Snee said.
Irihapeti Mahuika, the current Chief Executive, resigned in March to explore new opportunities in Christchurch, where her husband and family live. She is now completing her three-month notice period.
